Princeville Ranch Events and Weddings

Po‘oku, meaning head of the spirit, is a very special place. This beautiful site is at the base of the Po‘oku heiau, which is a native Hawaiian sacred place. High on the hill, this heiau was used for training in celestial navigation and lua, an ancient form of martial arts. The Carswell family has been holding events at this location since 1978, including the famous Hanalei Stampede Rodeo, barbecues, and paniolo events. The barn and grassy meadow was the old site for Po‘oku Stables and now has been transformed into an amazing venue with spectacular views.

Po‘oku Meadow

Surrounded by lush tropical landscape and the spectacular mountains of Hanalei, the grassy meadow is the ideal Hawaiian setting for your event. Our completely private location accommodates groups looking for anything from an intimate gathering to parties of 300, all with easy road access. Perfect for your wedding ceremony or reception, a corporate event, a family reunion, or any special event you have in mind.

Po‘oku Barn

• up to 75 people •

Po‘oku barn is a rustic courtyard setting perfect for a Paniolo barbeque, rehearsal dinner, or intimate birthday party. The partially covered area is protected from the elements and with glistening tree lights this is the perfect ambiance for your special occasion.

Green Hill

• up to 50 people •

Amazing 360 degree views await you and your guests at this stunning location atop our property’s highest pinnacle. Your wedding will be framed by the striking blue Pacific Ocean and breathtaking Makaleha mountains for an unforgettable setting for your special day. Guests will be transported via our 4×4 off road vehicles to the site for an unforgettable wedding ceremony.

Wedding Waterfall

• up to 10 people •

Say your vows while encircled by some of nature’s most spectacular scenery. The sights and sounds of your own secluded waterfall create one of the most enchanting and romantic back-drops imaginable. This location is picture perfect and magical! Your wedding party will be transported via our 4×4 off road vehicles to the start of our waterfall trail. A short hike will then take you to this magical waterfall for your special wedding ceremony.

Ride in on Horseback

One or Two People

Make a grand entrance as you ride in to your ceremony on gorgeous, gentle horses. This is a visually stunning part of an elegant equestrian-style wedding. You will have the horses for two hours. This includes enough time for your wedding photographer to capture images of you with the horses on this momentous occasion.

Photography Only Session


• $500 • 5 people maximum • 3 hours

During your private photography session you will have access to multiple breath taking locations within our 2500-acre ranch. This includes transportation for the bride and groom on our 4×4 off road vehicle driven by our staff member. Session does not include photographer.

Waterfall Ceremony

$1500 – up to 10 people

  • Ceremony only
  • 3 hours total time
  • Includes ranch transportation from parking area to waterfall trail on our 4×4 off road vehicles
  • A short hike involved to get to waterfall
  • Po‘oku Events staff will accompany guests to and from waterfall

• Hold your ceremony at Wedding Waterfall and receive a discount at our Po‘oku Event site

Ride in on Horseback

  • $350 per horse, 2 people maximum
  • Horse use for ceremony only
  • One horse handler on site at all times
  • Horse will be at venue for 2 hours for riding and photos
  • Wedding dress must be pre-approved by Po‘oku management for safety sitting in a western saddle
  • Horse to be lead by horse handler if necessary

Policies and Considerations

COORDINATOR

To ensure that your event is unforgettable we require that you work with a professional wedding or event planner for your special occasion.

BOOKING AND PAYMENTS

A 50% deposit is required to hold the Date, the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the event.

CANCELLATIONS

User may terminate the Agreement at any time prior to sixty (60) days in advance of the Date, in which case User shall be entitled to a refund of all deposits and fees less (i) all expenses incurred by the Facility in preparation of the Facilities for User and (ii) a cancellation fee of $250.00.

Cancellations made by User between thirty (30) and sixty (60) days prior to the Date, User shall be entitled to a refund of 50% of your deposit less all expenses incurred by the Facility in preparation of the Facilities for User.

Cancellations made by User less than thirty (30) days prior to the Date, all site fees and taxes will be forfeited.

The Po’oku Venues are in a geographic location that is subject to sudden and unexpected rain. Notice is given to User that once this contract is executed, the event will proceed as planned, rain or shine, except if the Facility, in good faith, deems conditions unsafe.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Set up, take down and removal of equipment provided must be budgeted as part of the rental contract timeframe as stated in the Facility Use Agreement.

All of User’s property will be removed from the Facilities by User at the termination of User’s use of the Facilities.

Po’oku Events will provide trash disposal however all trash must be neatly stacked and contained for removal.

BATHROOM POLICY

If over 50 guests a portable bathroom rental is required.

CATERING AND VENDORS

All vendors and caterers providing services for your event at the Facilities must be pre-approved by Po‘oku Events.

All caterers and vendors must additionally insure Po‘oku Events and provide proof of liability insurance prior to the Date.

ALCOHOL

No permit or liquor licenses is required on this private property on the contingency that the alcohol is not being sold, purchased, carried or consumed off property. However, as the host you will need to know that you will carry the full responsibility for alcohol consumption, including; appropriate age, overconsumption, and any alcohol related accidents or injuries. It is imperative that your servers understand these responsibilities.

User agrees to comply with any and all laws, statutes, ordinances, rules, orders regulations and requirements of the federal, state, and local governments, and all of their departments or bureaus, applicable to User’s use of the Facilities, including without limitation, obtaining any necessary liquor licenses and the payment of all sales, use and entertainment taxes or fees.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

User shall furnish evidence of insurance as follows: bodily injury liability coverage shall be not less than $1,000,000 each occurrence and property damage liability shall be not less than $1,000,000 for each occurrence. User will provide the Facility with evidence acceptable to the Facility that such insurance has been obtained at least seven (7) days prior to the Date. User shall obtain such insurance at its sole cost and expense and such policy shall be endorsed for the benefit of the Facility.

SECURITY

For events where alcohol is served Po‘oku Events may require additional security paid for by User.

Public events will require the User to hire additional bonded and insured security services approved by Po‘oku Events.

TENTS AND MATERIALS

In the interest of managing the condition of the venue, Po‘oku Events works exclusively with Kaua’i Tent and Party Rentals. They are the premium supplier of event rentals for weddings, corporate events, luaus, birthday parties and life’s events. In addition to elegant tents, they also provide tables, chairs, dance floors, staging, lighting and linens. They will collaborate with you on the design of your perfect event.

RECOMMENDED CATERER

While our guests are welcome to bring their own food or caterer, Po‘oku Events highly recommends using Kaua’i Ono. Chef Justin with Kaua’i Ono, has a state of the art food truck providing farm to table meals, where he uses 90% locally sourced and balanced dishes. Kaua’i Ono premiers our very own Princeville Ranch all natural grass finished beef. They offer a myriad of catering options to fit your needs, from an intimate dinner to a larger event.
